Conceptualized by Burlington County Entrepreneur Chris Miles, 35, who started his first company at the age of 12 and founded Miles Technologies at the age of 26 in 1997, the Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey Award – also known as The Miles Award - gives recognition to progressive young business owners under the age of 30 operating businesses in Southern New Jersey.
The Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey Award for 2006 will be presented to a South Jersey entrepreneur, under the age of 30, meeting all the criteria as established by the award's creator in cooperation with the Entrepreneurs Forum of Southern New Jersey. Recognition awards spotlighting a selection of candidates qualified to receive an Emerging Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey award will give credit to South Jersey entrepreneurs, under the age of 30, who may not meet all the specific criteria of the Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey Award, but who may be operating unique, successful businesses worthy of an honorable mention. The Entrepreneurs Forum of Southern New Jersey, working in cooperation with Rowan University School of Business, will oversee the selection process for the second year in a row.

Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey Awards Program Covered By Money Matters Today
Earlier this year, CN8, The Comcast Network, featured the Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey award winners for 2005 in a special segment devoted to the awards program on the primetime CN8 show, Money Matters Today. The Miles Young Entrepreneur of Southern New Jersey Award was formally presented to DeForest during a ceremony at Miles Technologies in Moorestown earlier this year. The award was conceptualized by Chris Miles, in cooperation with the Entrepreneurs Forum of Southern New Jersey, to give recognition to an under age 30 entrepreneur whose company, in accordance with the rules, had sales at or above $75,000 in 2003, made a profit in 2004 and had at least three employees other than the founder(s).
